The Plan

Sergey Korzhenevich CO-Founder CEO

You’ve got a big camera, right?
Where is it right now?
Why don’t you have it with you?

The excuse that it’s heavy doesn’t carry much weight. After all, you knew about that when you bought it, but you wanted those outstanding photos. Let’s be honest: your camera is lying on the shelf because you wanted the photos and were sold a device.

But if you want remarkable photos, why not pay for the photos instead of the camera? And why settle for anything less than remarkable shots?

I’m convinced that anyone can take great photos. It’s a matter of simplicity and price. And the bigger barrier is often complexity, not the number on the sticker.

Every one of my friends bought a top-of-the-line camera to get the striking photos they wanted. And the more they wanted those photos, the more expensive the camera they were willing to buy.

In the end, every one of those cameras (regardless of if they cost $400 or $4000) ended up on the shelf gathering dust after just two months of attempting to capture amazing images with them.

Here’s some evidence to back up my words:

Let’s be clear that we’re not talking about smartphones. Everyone who purchases a high-end camera already has a smartphone. But you want more because you see the difference. Someone sold you a camera (or you were a lucky and got one as a gift) and you were left one-on-one with a 20-button plastic monster.

Of course, it's easier to take pictures on a smartphone. But how many of the pictures in your camera roll are truly remarkable? I mean ones that you would pay 50 bucks to print and hang on your wall?

The photos in the Relonch gallery might look like they were shot by a professional, but they were all taken by amateurs using Relonch. Some were even shot by children. In one click. Just like with a smartphone, but anyone can see that the results are worlds apart.

Usually the everyday, unplanned moments captured on photo have more expressive depth and personal significance than the “Say Cheese” shots staged at special events

At Relonch, we understand that you shouldn’t be forced to deal with a bunch of hassles to get the remarkable photos you want. We’ve replaced the traditional Chain of Pain with a single small round button.

With Relonch, you get:

  1. An image capture device that is perfectly pre-configured with a large sensor and the right lens

  2. Pictured Technology – a different approach to photo development that applies the best settings for each object in the photo and takes lighting conditions into account.

Only this technology ensures that you get remarkable photos with just one click.

Want to try it out? Come join our club. The first Relonch Club has already formed in Palo Alto, CA (441 University Ave.).

We've looked at lots of different business models (sales, subscriptions, etc.) and chosen the most fair and honest one – payment based on results. To put this another way: if you want remarkable photos, we believe you should pay for the photos, not the camera. And only if those photos are truly remarkable. We also think that a remarkable photo shouldn’t cost more than your morning coffee. So with Relonch, you will pay $1 for a photo that you might have been willing to pay $100 or even $1000 for.

Just $1 per photo.

About the past.

At the 2014 Photokina trade fair, we announced our belief that everyone can create perfect photos and unveiled a prototype iPhone case. This device fit around your smartphone and let you take DSLR-quality photos thanks to a large sensor and a portrait lens. With just one-click, you could capture high-quality images that were sent directly to your smartphone. We realized that a hardware solution was not enough. Photos taken under poor lighting conditions with an imperfect white balance needed a software fix as well.

This is where the 2015 Relonch App came in. This app’s key feature was the Lighting Condition Adjustments, which factored a photo’s particular lighting conditions into the development process. This approach would later form the foundation of Relonch’s Pictured Technology. In retrospect, the Relonch App was the pivotal step connecting our earlier case to our current Camera-as-a-Service.

Now you can take our Camera-as-a-Service for a test drive and see the results for yourself.

Yes, we are amateurs. And thank God for that because it has allowed us to approach photography from a consumer's point of view and make a true people-to-people product. Our product is designed for you, but also for ourselves – for true photo enthusiasts.
